Interview group work

I’ll admit when it comes to group work, I am far from the best, I will do my part, and I will attempt to help as best I can, but during this entire project i’ve been lost and tossed aside. As such I’ve only been able to help in the initial recording of the interview.

In which we elected to record inside of the basement studio area of the Creative edge, as it was soundproofed, objectively busy, and oftensmost quiet so there would be little disturbance in the sound quality. Along with this, we placed a jointed mobile wall to further act as a buffer for reverberations, and set up two stools, one for the interviewer [Yours truely], and one for the Interviewee [Sophia O’Driscoll]. Opposing these stools at a 45 degree inward angle, was two mini-boom mics held up on their poles by tripods facing their corresponding speaker. This allowed for the clearest audio-quality during recording whilst also keeping them out of shot.

As we began recording both audio and video we opened with a loud clap which would have a clear visual and audial indication of occuring, whilst also peaking the boom mics on either side, allowing us to syncronize the video and audio of the interview together with ease. Cameron [Our Cameraman] gave our queues for when to start and when to finish up after setting up and conferring with Lewis [Our Audio recorder] Allowing me and Sophia three minutes of interview time on both who Sophia was, what her inspirations where, and what she believes will be the next big thing in animation. [Which was very difficult considering me and Sophia are not serious people] So we took four takes.

Unfortunately, the first time we did this, our video file corrupted due to Cameron forgetting to format the SD card of the camera, meaning we wasted a week of work with nothing to show for it.

The week after this we set up in the exact same way, this time revising our questions and allowing for a slightly more natural way of speaking. All in all it was a fun experience replicating the professional workspace and ettiquette with friends and we finally got our sound and video files ready for processing.

Immediately after this however, Cameron, Kyle and Lewis left with the file for both of them, leaving me and Sophia totally incapable of helping to work on the rest of the project. Rending me and her from the group of edittors, who have still to show me or Sophia anything of the editted video or audio.
